ElderFriends Volunteer Companionship Program connects an elder with a volunteer. Together, the Elder and Friend commit to regular visits and an occasional outing. The result is an opportunity to build powerful friendships.

Services and Activities

ElderFriends supports four main activities throughout the year:
he ElderFriends program pairs an elder with a volunteer for companionship.

  • Friendly Visits: Often. Our core service is an ongoing visitation program that matches trained volunteers with isolated elders. We encourage friendly visits (remotely or in person) two to three times a month.
  • Card of Encouragement: Monthly. ElderFriends also offers a monthly mailing, including a handcrafted card of encouragement.
  • Social Gatherings: Twice yearly. Volunteer and elder participants enjoy a summer picnic and holiday party.
  • Thanksgiving Meal Delivery: Annually. ElderFriends volunteers deliver hot full-course meals and other seasonal surprises to the doorsteps of elders who would otherwise be alone during this holiday.

COVID-19 Response

ElderFriends continues to monitor COVID-19 precautions, keeping participant and volunteer safety at the forefront.

Refer an Elder: We are accepting new referrals for isolated older adults over age 60 in the Seattle area.

Be an Elder

Volunteer to Be a Friend: We are accepting new volunteers to be connected with an elder for friendly visits at least two times a month for a year.
